Krystal Brodeen enters her 4th season as the head women’s basketball coach at Central Lakes. The Raiders have made the semifinals of the Region 13 Tournament every season under Coach Brodeen's tenure.

In her first year at CLC in 2022-23, the Raiders finished with a 14-8 record and were named the MCAC Northern Division Co-Champions for the first time since 1996-97. Four Raider women’s basketball student-athletes were named to the MCAC All-Division Team including freshman Alyssa Torgerson, who was named the MCAC Player of the Year and a NJCAA All-American. Coach Brodeen was also named the MCAC Northern Division Coach of the Year.  

Krystal graduated from North Woods High School in its inaugural year of 2012, where she lettered in both volleyball and basketball for 4 years. She went on to play both volleyball and basketball during her time as a student at Vermilion Community College, earning All-Academic awards and graduating in 2015. After graduating from Vermilion, Krystal went on to graduate from Bemidji State University with her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration Management in 2016. She also graduated from Concordia University Irvine with her Master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration in 2021.  

Her coaching journey began in 2017 at her alma mater, Vermilion Community College, where she was the head coach for both volleyball and women's basketball. She coached her last VCC volleyball team, which included her first NJCAA All-American player, to the 2021 MCAC Regional Tournament - Vermilion's first appearance in over 20 years.

During the off-season, Coach Krystal also helps direct youth camps for Pacesetter Sports and CLC Athletics, coaches AAU for Starks Elite/MINN Starks, and is an active member of PGC Basketball and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. She is also currently the athletic director and teaches at Central Lakes College. Within her coaching philosophy, Coach Brodeen is most passionate about empowering young women through sport, supporting her student-athletes’ mental health, and setting her players up for success on and off the court.
